Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m a little late posting — it was a long day at school and then I went straight to the gym — so I didn’t have time to bake anything this year. Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to make a bunch of cute, chocolatey treats, but my mom saved the day and made a giant heart cookie for my dad and brother. It’s so adorable I want to take a huge bite, or pile ice cream on top and make a massive cookie sundae. This giant M&M cookie is also great for anniversaries or any celebration. Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 packages M&Ms
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. Cream the softened butter with the brown and granulated sugars using an electric mixer or stand mixer with a paddle attachment until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs and vanilla until combined.
  5. Add the flour mixture gradually on low speed and mix just until incorporated—avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in the M&Ms and chocolate chips by hand so the candies stay intact.
  7. Press the dough evenly into a greased heart-shaped cake pan.
  8. Bake for about 20–25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow the cookie to cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
