What a week it has been!
Anne is nearly done with her hallway project, but it turned out to be far more work than we expected.
We both tend to underestimate how long projects will take—or overestimate how quickly we’ll finish them. Apparently that makes us optimists.
Still, Anne’s had a rough patch with the project this week.
After a weekend spent filling holes, caulking, and more caulking, it was time to install the new lanterns.
The area around the old fixtures needed touch-up paint, and the ceiling border required coverage to hide caulk lines.
No problem—Anne pulled out White Dove ceiling paint and did the touch-ups.
Two hours later, when the paint was basically dry, she noticed the color was slightly different.
So now she needs to repaint the entire ceiling. Ugh.
AnnMarie has been taking notes so she hopefully avoids these same setbacks when she starts her project this month—wait until you see what she’s planning! We’ll be working together again, so follow our Facebook and Instagram stories to watch the progress.
On Tuesday we were interviewed on The Best of LKN podcast, a local show that highlights entrepreneurs in the Lake Norman area. It was a fun, slightly humbling experience. Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves as we watch our little blog grow—thanks to you! We’ll share the episode link when it goes live.
After the podcast we visited our local antique mall and found some lovely pieces we’ll show you next week.

What’s New on the Blog This Week
We published a couple of posts this week that we think you’ll enjoy.
Anne’s Kitchen Renovation Update
A year ago Anne shared her plan to update her kitchen. She wanted a lighter, brighter, more modern feel without painting her cherry cabinets. The project has had delays—life happens—but progress is happening. We’re not the fastest DIY bloggers, but we keep going. Check out Anne’s kitchen updates and see how it’s shaping up.
Inexpensive Halloween Decorating Ideas
We both like festive Halloween touches without spending a lot. Dollar stores are great for affordable decor, but popular items sell out quickly. Anne rounded up easy, inexpensive Halloween finds and styling tips to get a spook-worthy look for less.

Friday Favorites: Anne’s Kitchen Organization Finds
I’m excited to share my go-to organizing products that made my kitchen more functional during a recent drawer and cabinet refresh. Emptying the drawers for new counters was a big job, but it was a perfect time to purge and reorganize. Here are the items that helped the most.
Spice Drawer Organizer with Spice Jars and Labels

I always admired organized spice drawers with matching containers. My spices were scattered, including bulk bags that didn’t fit well. I bought two sets of these spice drawer organizers, transferred everything into the labeled jars, and now have favorites in the front and the rest alphabetized across two drawers. It’s so much easier to find what I need, and I top up jars every couple of months.

OXO Suction Sinkware Organizer

With new countertops and sink, I didn’t want a sponge on the counter. This OXO suction sink caddy keeps sponges handy and draining inside the sink. It sticks reliably, and I remove it occasionally to clean it in the dishwasher.
Microwave Splatter Guard Steaming Lid

This isn’t strictly an organizer, but it’s one of my favorite kitchen tools. The splatter guard has a cool-touch handle, vented silicone sides to help food steam evenly, and it’s dishwasher-safe. It has made keeping the microwave clean so much easier.
Clear Lazy Susan Organizer

I keep oils, vinegars, and dressings near the stove, and these clear lazy Susans make everything easy to reach so nothing gets lost in the back. At 5’1″ (and a half), I appreciate that I can reach items on the second shelf without a stepstool. I also store custom seasoning blends in 10-oz mason jars on the Susans. If you use larger bottles, consider a sturdier lazy Susan option.
Tea Bag Divided Storage Box

All our hot drink essentials live in the cabinet above the coffee maker. I prefer tea most days and enjoy many herbal varieties. These divided tea boxes keep bags organized—one holds hot tea options, the other stores flavors I brew cold.
Shelf Divider Racks & Clear Organizer Bins

One cabinet stores mugs and hot beverage supplies. Shelf divider racks create extra usable space so I can fit two rows of mugs instead of wasting vertical space. Clear organizer bins on upper shelves make it simple to see and pull out items, preventing lost packages at the back of the shelf and eliminating the need for a chair or stepstool to reach things.
