Ingredients

  • 6 (1-inch thick) slices French bread, cubed
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan

Instructions

  1. Chop the garlic and sprinkle with ¼ teaspoon salt. Let it sit for about 10 minutes so it softens, then mash it into a paste with a fork.
  2. In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the mashed garlic, butter, and parsley. Microwave about 45 seconds or until the butter is fully melted.
  3. Stir the butter mixture to blend the ingredients and set it aside.
  4. Arrange the cubed bread in a single layer on a large baking sheet.
  5. Pour the butter mixture over the bread cubes and toss or stir until all pieces are evenly coated.
  6. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan over the coated bread cubes.
  7. Bake at 325°F (about 160°C) for 15–20 minutes, stirring every 5–10 minutes so the croutons brown evenly.
  8. Remove from the oven when croutons are golden and crisp. Let cool, then store in a sealed container or freezer bag.
