Apple and Cinnamon Chicken Stew Recipe + Big Announcement Inside

This chicken stew with apples, cinnamon and a touch of honey is an easy, one-skillet fall meal. Serve it with rice or mashed sweet potatoes for a warming, comforting dinner.

Before sharing the recipe for this cozy Chicken Stew with Apples and Cinnamon, a quick personal note: in ten days my partner Solal and I are moving to Sydney, Australia for a year. It’s a huge change and an exciting adventure. We chose Australia partly for the sunshine and partly because getting a short-term Working Holiday visa was straightforward. The visa lets you work to fund your stay, although you can’t work more than six months for the same employer.

We don’t have a fixed plan beyond exploring, working to earn money while pursuing a few projects, and me continuing with a new course I’ll start in October. I plan to keep the blog active and post recipes regularly, though the frequency may dip as I settle into the new routine. I’m especially excited about Sydney’s food scene — fresh produce, farmers markets and great restaurants — and I look forward to sharing discoveries from there.

One challenge I anticipate is adapting recipes to a reversed season cycle: when it’s autumn or winter here, Australia has spring or summer. Some ingredients will be out of sync with what I’m used to, but with a little time and creativity I’ll make it work.

Now, onto the stew. This Chicken Stew with Apples and Cinnamon is a simple, satisfying dish perfect for cooler weather. It’s made in one pot with chicken drumsticks, onions, apples, cinnamon sticks and a little honey to balance the flavors. The combination of sweet apple and warm cinnamon pairs beautifully with tender chicken.

The recipe is adapted from a French source and is straightforward to prepare. Don’t be put off if it sounds a little unconventional — it’s homey, comforting and easy to make for weeknight dinners or casual gatherings.
